Welcome to another issue of Passionate Income.
In this brand-new four-part series, we'll be breaking down today's most popular funnel-building software.
In particular, the Pros and Cons of each, which are best depending on your level of tech-savvy and the size of your list, and how much each one costs as of March 2024.
Starting with two highly-respected options: ActiveCampaign and ClickFunnels.
Let’s dive in.

Things have come a long way since sales funnels went viral in 2014.
See, prior to ClickFunnels, building a funnel was a HUGE pain in the rear.
First, you either had to code it from scratch (time-consuming and highly expensive) or you had to sign up with InfusionSoft (expensive) and deal with one of the worst User Interfaces of any marketing SaaS on Earth.
In short, launching a funnel back then was a nightmare.
Fast forward to today you can build out the tech side of a funnel in a few hours.
Sure, you may not produce a brand-new VSL from scratch in just one day.
But in terms of the tech, it's a breeze.
Only problem is, there are dozens of builders to choose from.
And which one is "best" for you will be highly dependent on your level of tech savvy, how big your business (and email list is), and your budget.
So which one should you choose?
Well, that's what this four-part series is here to help you with.
Below, we'll include the Pros, Cons, and pricing for each funnel software so you can dig deeper if one of them sounds like a good fit for your situation.*
*We'll do this series in alphabetical order, not by which ones are our favorites or most recommended.
#1 - ActiveCampaign
Marketers constantly refer to AC as a funnel software. The problem?
You can't build funnels with it.
Instead, ActiveCampaign is an email marketing software that includes landing pages and sales automations. As in the type of sales stuff corporate salespeople do using CRMs like Salesforce, PipeDrive, etc.
On the positive side, AC is great as an email marketing software. It allows for automations, has good deliverability, its user interface is intuitive and ActiveCampaign's pricing is competitive.
On the downside, if your funnel involves anything more than sending traffic to a landing page, you'd have to use a dedicated funnel-building software (like ClickFunnels, InstaPage, etc.) and connect the two via Zapier or a native integration.
Pricing: $29/mo - $1,059/mo depending on tier of service and list size.
#2 - ClickFunnels
Ahhh, the good old OG.
On the plus side, CF was literally made for beginners.
If you know anything about Russell Brunson, you know he built ClickFunnels from zero by selling Sales Funnels as a Biz Opp.
The upside of this is that the ClickFunnels team had no choice but to make their tool extremely user-friendly.
The downside is that beginner-friendly SaaS - especially when it's Drag and Drop and includes templates - can b packed with excess code.
And because of that, most of the pages you build with these kinds of software are buggy and load painfully slow. If you know anything about landing pages, however, you know how important it is for them to load as fast as possible.
Ideally in under 500ms.
To ClickFunnel's credit, they added email automations to their entry-level plan (which did not include any email whatsoever in the past). Unfortunately, automated emails are the only thing you can send.
Given how important broadcast emails are, using CF for your funnel virtually guarantees you have to sign up with a dedicated email service.
Ignoring the expense, working with two separate marketing software may require you to set up automations using Zapier (which can be slow unless you sign up for a paid plan).
If that doesn't sound like your cup of tea, then make sure to skip CF.
Pricing: $147/mo - $297/mo
💡 Takeaway: Not all sales funnel software are created equal. Depending on the use case and your budget, some may be a better fit than others.
